Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis to be honored for his contribution in music

Michael Eavis, the founder of Glastonbury Music Festival, is all set to be honored by music industry for his unimaginable contribution to music. The 78 year old farmer, who arranged a music event on his land in Somerset back in the year 1970, would be recognized for his achievements in hosting live music and also raising money for charity.
He would be handed Music Industry Trusts Award at a fundraising dinner that would be hosted later this year. According to reports, Michael Eavis told that when he set out on this crazy journey forty four years ago, little did he know how this rollercoaster would run. However now he has to pinch himself every morning when he wakes up to the excitement of another day – heading up a team of the most creative artists anywhere in the world.
This year, the Glastonbury Music festival would be headlined by top acts like Metallica, Kasabian and Arcade Fire. Music Industry Trusts Award committee’s chairman David Munns told that they honor him as the creator of world renowned Glastonbury Festival, the largest greenfield festival in the world, covered by more than 175000 each year and raising millions and millions of pounds for charity works.
He added that through his tireless dedication, Glastonbury, scheduled to take next month, has become a significant landmark in the cultural life of this country, with their influence spreading well beyond these shores.
